cos people in government only seem to care about keeping their money and position in society to become nasty instead on looking out for the small guy. Especially since that means they could loose their job. You know about the whip guy in Parliament is there to make sure all members of one party vote the same way even if they disagree with a policy.. how democratic is that!!!
maybe not everyone driving taxis' and cutting hair are the best people to run the government but they certainly have the ideas and the good conections with the ordinary public. maybe they should come up with the ideas and the politions should carry them out since they already know how to put stuff in to effect.

Not sure they are: Like everyone the average Cabbie or Barber may have excellent ideas in principle but if they were in government would their ideas be practical, affordable and anymore acceptable to the whole population than your current politician....probably not.

Simple, life is not designed to be fair! The system is tuned to glorify the ugly, exalt the bad and ostracise the good.

Partly because the regular citizen does NOT have all the information the government does. Like the old saying about there always being two sides to the story. We just don't get to hear most, if any, of the other side.
But, the fact that anyone CAN not only make opinions but state them out loud in mixed company is what makes this country such a great place. Whether you agree with or disagree with the government, you can say so either way and not worry about some "secret police" personnel coming to take you away in the middle of the night.
And, bottom line, if you are a citizen and are convinced enough that you could do a better job than the government, you can try and go take it over by becoming part of it. Ours is one of the few governments that is set up to be "overthrown" by its citizens, at least in a non-violent manner. About the only exception to this is to be the President, you have to not only be a citizen, you have to have been born one. But any job in Congress is open to any citizen meeting the age requirement; just get your name on the ballot.

They're not. Only they think that they are the best people to run our government. If they were really that good they'd be in the job wouldn't they?!

Every one thinks they are incorruptible, and that solving the problems is just a matter of being president or in congress, the problems are way more complex than we can imagine.
Power corrupts. NO one is immune, no one is immune to the pressures and dealing with the threats and intimidation of those in government who have power and are corrupt to go along with it even if they want to make changes for the better.
