I'm a guy, my hair grows real fast and I always get like a regular haircut (short basic fades). It tends to feel really dry and too prickly when it starts growing again. I also noticed that when I let my hair grow out longer, and then I get a haircut, it seems softer and fuller. How can I maintain soft, nice feeling hair (like when a girl likes to play with it)?

My vet actually suggested that I trim my Havanese's bangs as the hair sticks to the eyeball. Have you ever had an eyelash in your eye? Not very comfortable.

As a former groomer and vet tech, there is nothing wrong with trimming the hair. They do not have it there to protect their eyes, it can cause more problems than it solves. The discharge accumulates and mattes the hair, which then causes an infection on the skin under the eye.
I'm sure you are capable with the scissors, but I'll say it anyway, be careful.
first, did u stab him in the eye with the scissor? if no, then u are ok. the hair that falls into the dogs eyes iritates their eyes, and causes them distress, so tell ur friend to check on her "information" before she advises someone about something she obviously knows nothing about.
It is perfectly acceptable to trim the brow above the eyes or use a ribbon or beret to hold the hair up on it's head. Be careful with scissors so close to the eyes. If you have a pair of blunt end scissors use those. If you are going to continue to groom at home and not use a professional groomer, but a pair of blunt end scissors. All the best and good luck!

There are quite a few products whihc could help you do that. Other ways could be using a strong cleansing shampoo, will make your hair look thinner and avoid conditioner.
**When you next visit your stylist and have your hair cut make sure he/she uses thinning scissors. Tell her that your hair is thick and you want it thinner, they will use a range of equipment whihc will make you achive the look you want.

Believe it or not but if you comb your hair a lot and make sure that your hair is completely combed with no knots, your hair will seem a bit thinner since knots take up a lot of space and increase the volume of your hair.

There are some styling products that can make your hair appear less bulky. Pomade, Styling wax. Use a small amount of these products to give your hair a more defined shape and it will be a lot less bulky.
there isnt any other way except straightening it or going to a hair salon, and they can thin it out for you by trimming small sections that wouldn't be very noticeable if missing.
You can also use a silicone sealant that makes ur hair look thin. just dont use too much or it will look limp.
i personally think straightening it, is the easiest cheapest most efficient way.

I think it would look really good. A darker reddish brown would really bring out your eyes more. My best friend is a stylist and whenever I want to try something new but I'm not sure about it, she just tells me that is hair and its going to grow back. You can always change it again. So go for it ! Hope it turns out like you want it too :)

a dark brown would be best for you. I don't think red really goes good with those pretty blue eyes. P.S. in winter skin gets even lighter so summer '08 make sure you get out in the sun but safe!

Well, it may look good on you. I would color it dark brown cus I agree with VM- it would go better considering your complexion, but I think you should ask your hairdresser for a more professional opinion :]
My hair is what I would call in between wavy and curly. I want the curl to be stronger. Is there any way my hairdresser can cut it to enhance the natural curl?
p.s. I already use a curl enhancing spray gel, and scrunch it.
Make sure your hair is texturized when your hairdresser cuts it. This will really help enhance your curl.

The shorter your hair is, the less weight is pulling down on it and straightening out your curls.
If you trim your hair to just above your shoulders or a bit below (while dry), it should be wonderfully curly!
Oh, and be careful not to thin it out too much.
This can make curly hair look very fake and lifeless.
If you cut your hair it will be more curly. The more length on your hair the heavier it is. That stretches out the curl. Don't thin it though. This will give you fly aways and you could get split ends. Also if you get a haircut don't let anybody razor cut your hair. This also causes split ends. Hope this helps.

dye your hair black, with maybe a tint or purple or red for the ends, maybe get it layered and assessorize your hair with a rock chic hairband, (black n white with a bow) ! cool!

I'm 15 and for the past 2 years my hair has been pretty long about a little past my eyes.Since it's been so long for so long my forehead is oddly pale while my face is a little tanner.

No, I think you should leave it long, definitely. It's almost winter, so, unless you live in Hawaii or some other warm tropical place, all your skin is going to be getting pale in a few months. If it really bugs you, get some tanner and put it on your forehead. (Or some white powder to put on the rest of your face, OMG) Guys with short hair look weird. I like it long. It just looks better, it's way edgier and cooler than just leaving it short like a first grader, eww. Please keep it long. :P

if you really really want to screw it up yourself....just turn your head over and cut into the hair hanging down on the ends...either that...or just cut it strait across with your head upsidedown...it will layer it..but its going to look like crap...I had a crazy backwoods trailer park woman I worked with do this all the time, because she didn't trust anyone to cut her hair

Hey, try bending over as though you're going to tough your toes, comb your hair down. You will notice that your hair appears as though it is cut in layers (this applies if your hair isn't cut in layers) . Make sure all your hair is combed down, now cut your hair straight across in a straight line. This is my personal wy to cut my hair in layers. If you want bangs then you may cut it after. Hope it helps
you urself wont be able to cut yur own hair in layers....but if you can get a little help then follow these steps:
1.the hair is suppose to get 3 steps of layering
the lowest,the mid layer n the uppermost layer
2.just wet ur hair n devide em into 5 sections on top...use bobby pins to roll ur hair n secure them on top of your scalp
3.take hair from mid sections of your scalp and secure them with pins
4.now work on the lowest section..wet the hair and achieve the lenght u want.once youve got the lenght u want then start working on the mid section
5.start frm the back and move on to the front sections..just concentrate on the lenght as fer now
6. then work on the uppermost layer and remember to cut it short fron the front side so as to give the layered look
7.now work on the refining of layers
8.blow dry or straighten ur hair

I have done this myself and had no trouble. If your hair is just below shoulders it is easier. This does not give you prof. results of course. Sham. and cond. towel dry comb out. Take a comb and part a small section for a guide on top this will determin the length of your shortest layer. Then make a verticle parting along front hairline comb straight up to guide and cut straight accross. (It does look better if you can angle the cut from guide up on an angle to ends but for the first time I would do it straight till you get used to cutting your own hair.) Then follow around your head till you reach the other side always remembering to take a small amount of first section and top guide as a guide. It gets a little tricky in back obviously, but if you take your time and comb hair really straight you can do it. I usually dont sug. doing it yourself but I have so what the hell. Good luck! No it's not hard to do and yes it's easy to mess up. If you have long hair you should cut it with scissors first . After that it all depends on the length you want to end up with. Buy clippers with different attachments, go with the longest attachment first and go down step by step until you are satisfied. If you want to go bald use no attachment and buzz it all off one shot. I suggest you use a hand held mirror so you can see what you are doing back there.

Generally when people want to cut their hair they are having an identity crisis. They are identifying too much with the false ego. (The body) they think they are their body and they want a change even spiritually and they think cutting their hair will help. I use to be a hair stalest by profession. I found that people where never satisfied with what they had. I use to color, perm, style my hair in all ways, searching for my self. I never found myself in my hair. But when I found out that it was a useless waste of time to deal with my hair, I let it grow out natural and long and just keep it tied back. It was so liberating, at least in some sense. Don't fuss with it, don't' worry about ti. Keep it simple to take care of so you don't have to be concerned with it. Your Not your Hair. lol

I think it's a choice thing with hairdressers. I too have had some cut my hair when it's wet and some have cut it when it's dry.
Missunderstood is clearly misunderstood. (The first girl who posted). Part of the service of cutting your hair is to wash it also. You must be going to a really cheapy place, or a very unprofessinal hairstylist if he/she isn't washing before cutting and styling. Or...you are paying $10 for just a cut. You don't have to ask for them to wash your hair- it's part of the services of a wash, cut and basic style. You should go to another hair salon if this one isn't washing your hair.
BTW, the only reason they would do a "dry cut" first then wash after is if you're getting hair color done.
My hair dresser cuts my hair then washes it. If you had hair gel on before the haircut then maybe that's why they washed your hair first.
Basically, if you have a lot of hair, or a lot of product in it, you should ALWAYS have it washed. Spritzing it down will not make the cut very even, neither will dry-cutting it. I think if they don't wash it, they're either lazy, or a chop-n-go type shop, and don't return if they don't.
washing is preffered but costs a bit more. its worth it though.

There are a few ways that Hairdressers cut one's hair.
Ususally they should ask you, "Do you want your hair washed". You either accept the offer or decline.
They either charge you for it or its free of charge.
So, whenever you go to a salon, make sure you state if you want your hair shampooed and conditioned. If they have a problem with it. Leave.
However if you always have gel in your hair, it may pay to get your hair washed. Before getting it cut.
As a guy, I've noticed that if I get my hair trimmed (mine is longish) in a regular guys barbershop or even a salon that caters more to equal numbers of guys/girls, then they just use a comb and scissors to cut my hair. But if I go to a salon that is unisex but maybe caters more to women (fewer guys) or is more trendy, then they use these big plastic clip type things or silver metal clips to keep hair out of the way while they cut it.
Why the difference? Does using the clip things mean I am getting a better cut or not, or does it mean the stylists isn't as good. I guess they just keep hair out of the way while they cut it, but shouldn't they be used all the time as common practice if they are needed, or not bothered with if they aren't.
It depends on how the barber/beautician is taught and the method that works best for them. My sister used to be a hairdresser, and she's the only person I would ever trust to touch my hair, and she was taught to use the metal clips (they have a technical name but it escapes me now what it is) and that's what worked best for her. Most hairdressers I have seen in the unisex salons and beauty schools use the clips. At the same time, those same people can't give a decent haircut to save their lives, so the clips don't have anything to do with the quality of the cut. It's all about the skill of the hairdresser and their willingness to listen to what you want and go from there. A large number of hairdressers out there actually don't care about the job itself, which is one of the reasons why people recieve bad cuts (or whatever else they went in for) and service. They're only in it because it's "easy money" and anyone can go to school to learn it.

Some people find it easier to cut small sections at a time opposed to all at once. I think it just depends on their training.

When I was still in England they used to use clips like that all the time. Over here in the US, they seem to use them less. Also, one girl asked me if I minded or not if she used them. I said no problem and she seemed relieved lol. I got the impression some guys don't like them being used, like it threatens their macho-ness.

there really is a big difference between a barber over a stylist. barbers specialize in hair. period. stylist are hair skin and nails. they are typically more organized. they do jus give you more control over the hair. in barber school they are not trained to use them . that's all.
My daughter's friend has dreads and now wants to grow her hair out straight again, but wants to be rid of the dreads right now. But she also does not want her hair to be too short. Any advice on how to "un-do" them?

It depends on how long she's had the dreads and how she originally dreaded them. I had mine for 4 months, but since my hair doesn't naturally dread, I had purchased a lot of dreadlock wax to keep them together...so in order to remove the wax I used dishsoap. It worked on me, but unless your daughter's friend used wax, it won't work. (after the wax was stripped, I could pull out hairballs from my hair...it was really really gross and took 3 hours)

well i think you could get a shoulder lengt cut. i used to have long wavy hair and it was very think too. i just got it cut not to lonng ago and it came out really pretty. try to get it cut past your shouldes and this way you can see how it looks and then to you make it shorter if you want.
If you have curly hair, it doesn't make a difference what type of cut you get. and especially that is thick. But you can straighten it out nd have a stylish look!!!!

first, go to a good salon/stylist. then, tell your stylist what you want (be able to tie it into a pony tail...etc.) and ask them what cut they could do keeping in mind what you want and also your face shape and what would look best for it. also, it might be helpful to tell them what kind of trend you follow (prep, emo, ghetto, "trendy"...etc.).

Obviously the buzz cut would be a full shave. My problem is I don't know if I can part ways with my long hair. i guess they could cut, but mostly they have a lot of people working back stage that do wonders in seconds.all make up and accesories are matched before the event,and in the hanger with the clothes are instructions on how to.althought the models know what is going on with each outfit.
The person that hired the models also hired hair stylists, hair colorists, nail techs and so forth. The model agrees to whatever when he or she was hired and the boss trusts his or her hired design professionals decisions on what goes with the outfits. Of course with celebs there are typically mangers and lawyers and contracts and waivers involved.

I cut mine short because my long hair would almost come out in clumps when I brushed it. By cutting it shorter it helped it from getting pulled out my hairbrush although some still fall out but not as much.
About the same time I cut it chin length I started taking prenatel vitamins. I took them for about 6 weeks. Worked for me and in 7 months my hair was to my shoulders and a few months after that well past it so I had my long hair back.

No!! I used to be a hair dresser! Split ends are caused by poorly conditioned hair which in time splits in two and the only way to revive them is to cut them and cut them every 5-6 weeks to maintain healthy ends and hair that grows. If you have split ends and don't cut your hair they split up to the root and eventually fall out!!!! So get to the hairdresser!!!!!

No. You can get silicone products to hold them together but they only last until you wash your hair again. There are lots of products to prevent split ends, made for certain types of hair, including Sun Silk. I prefer Garnier.
You have to trim to get rid of, but keeping hair healthy and getting regular trims should prevent split end.
The thing Ive learned is that you can not completely prevent split ends. However you can hold them off for a while and get less by treating your hair nicely. Dont blow dry, or do so as little as possible. Be careful with irons and ALWAYS use protective sprays and serums. Dont wash and restyle your hair EVERYDAY, wash every other dayish (especially if you straighten your hair). When buying shampoo and conditioner DO NOT GO TOO CHEAP. In that I mean no white rain, suave, etc...now Aussie offers a great line of products that I use when I dont buy salon products that keep my hair looking great.
I only get my hair trimmed and shaped about every 2 months or so because I dont get split ends in mass quantities.

No, you have to cut split ends. After cutting, you should take preventative measures to keep ends from splitting and to keep your hair looking shiny and healthy. Mending serums exist, but they don't cure or prevent current or future splitting. Regular trims is the only way to get rid of split ends.

A sharp inverted bob would look good, but would only suit you if you had very strong bone structure. why not try a soft bob with a block fringe to bring out your eyes?

i qualified as a hairdresser and do some family and friends and i wanted some dvds and i bought some from ebay and they were fantastic showed new trends that have come along since i qualified they were not expensive and if they are any good the people selling the ones that i have bought explained fully what the dvd offered so this may be of use, if you have no hairdressing experience then i wouldnt advise learning on your own unless you have lots of willing friends to try things on :)

Personally, I think women/girls look good with long hair, as well as short hair. However, it's not my place to dictate what anyone do with THEIR body. I have seen a lot of women/girls with short hair and they look rather lovely. My niece is very energetic and partakes in a lot of sports. She keeps her hair very short, because it keeps her cooler and is less of a distraction on the field. One of the best and most sophisticated and elegant actress of all time, Audrey Hepburn, at one time kept her hair very short. Former First Ladies Jackie Kennedy and Hillary Clinton also kept their hair short. I think perhaps the two women who kept their hair short, and no one can deny that they looked very beautiful with that hair style are the sultry Sharon Stone and 'The People's Princess' herself, Princess Diana. So I suppose it comes down to, freedom of choice and freedom to be yourself. I know, there isn't anyone who can tell me what to do with my appearance and my hair. I, and only I, decide what to do with me. If a female wants to cut her hair short , it's no one's business but her own. Women have suffered more than enough oppression. So it's really absurd and demeaning, not to mention stupid to ridicule females who chose to cut their hair short. As if we don't have enough prejudice in the world. I am now 50 years old, but when I was 17 I had my hair cut very short (it was about an inch long) and I loved it! If I still had the face for it, if my jaw was not starting to sag in other words, I would love to cut my hair like that again. I don't think that it is a cultural thing, necssarily...but then I'm an American, and I cut my hair at that time because I wanted something different from what everyone else had. I felt like doing something shocking. Luckily, it looked good on me! Maybe that is what these girls feel when they are cutting their hair as well...they just want to be different from everyone else. Or, they just want to rebel against what is expected of them.
I think girls should cut their hair in any way that makes them look their best, and not be dictated by cultural norms if that is their desire, and if they can do so without causing too much familial strife. It is, after all, their hair. I do know, however, that in some cultures a woman's hair is proof of her femininity, is her crowning glory, and cutting it is frowned upon. Keeping the peace over something like this can be difficult in some families where tradition is important.

I think it is acceptable as long as she looks nice in short hair ~~~ sometimes it is refreshing to have a change in hair style ~~~~and it is nice to have short hair in a warm climate because it makes for a quick shampoo and dry and then there is no more fussing to be done ~~~~if that is what is wanted. At times, however, people like to fuss over things because it is fun!
I once saw photographs of some people in a cultural group who lived somewhere north of India ~~~~ the men and women not only dressed alike, in long robes with colorful sashes and ties at the waist, but they also had their hair cut exactly alike: short, like the man's cut ~~~ they looked very nice together ~~~ I think it is a matter of geography sometimes~~~and sometimes one likes to be free from pressure of society to conform to something which might not be the most comfortable or attractive choice to make ~~~ people have rights and that is the way it should be

i dont think they can legally start training you till youre 16.... you would either have to get an apprentice position at a salon or go to beauty school around your regular school

Go around to a couple of salons in your area and talk to the hairdressers there. Maybe regardless of your age you could volunteer. Suggest that you'll sweep up hair and take out the trash. Just whatever it would take to get your foot in a salon. Let them know of your interest and I'm sure they'll love to teach a little as they work. People love to show off their skills! Good luck in what is hopefully your new career!
Go to a local hair salon, and speak with the owner/manager. Offer to help clean up, and run errands, and that sort of thing. Explain your interest, and see what response you get. You may get no or little pay, but after a while, you will start learning what it is like, and then you can decide if this is a career that you really want.

You are too young to go and do some work experience at the moment as it would be child slave labour, but definitely when you hit 15, you can get work experience in a salon. You will not be allowed to do any work on clients, such as cutting and colouring for liabilities sake until you actually attend hairdressing school and are a hairdresser. It is just the law.
You can definitely practice on friends, i wouldnt cut their har but try doing things like hair up and stuff, this is usually the first thing you will learn anyway.
Is there a vocation technology program at your school? Check with your guidance counselor. I remember when I was in school, there was a special program for those kinds of things... cosmetology, automotive, culinary arts...
If you have that much passion for the art of hairdressing that is half the battle. Get your parents to buy you one of the maniquin heads that hairdressing students use to practice on and go from there. If you just want to cut hair, you can go to barbering school, my aunt is a barber with a long list of clients. But it is one thing to want to do it and another to be able to stand on your feet long hours, put up with cranky people and not always paid well. A lot of young women go to school for it and find out it is not what they want after all, I know some personally. I am not trying to burst your bubble just want you to know it not all fun and games, it is like any other job...WORK and not easy work. Talk to a Salon (or barber shop) owner and see if she will let you observe hair dressers at work, offer to sweep the floor for it and get a first hand view of what really goes on during the day. I don't think you can go to school unless you are at least 18 (not sure tho') so you have a lot of years to practice and make up your mind and save your money, it's not cheap. Most areas have/offer a vocational high school that has a hairdressing/cosmetology course. When you are ready for high school, talk to your parents about attending one of these, instead of a regular high school. Not only will they teach you everything about being a hair dresser, but, will also help you get licensed before you graduate.So, when you get out of school, you will be all-set to work in a salon, even if as an apprentice (which is what all hairdressers start out as, at least, at the better salons) or, if you wnat to work at a discount hair cutting place (Super Cuts, Great Clips, etc) they may start you off on your own chair right away.

My daughter is 9 months and her hair is in her eyes. I usually put clips in but not always. I just can't bring myself to cut it. Am I being silly? Should I just do it? How should I do it?
You can cut it and keep her bangs or you can let it grow out to one length. If you cut it I found the easiest way is to do it in the tub when it is wet. Comb it forward and when she is playing with something (but not jumping around obviously) make 1 little snip. Then wait a few seconds and try to snip again. You can fix any unevenness once her hair is dry. I remember walking around holding scissors waiting for my 1 year old to sit still long enough to just snip 1 more piece that was hanging down! lol
If you let her bangs grow out use little barrettes to clip them off to the side. Use ones that are small enough for her not to choke on them, but keep a very close eye on her when seh wears them. Don't put them on her when she is in her crib.
Or if the hair does not seem to bother her then just leave it. My 5.5 year old is growing her bangs out and they are always in her fce - she just does not care!
Just wanted to add that if you save a lock of her hair, put it on a piece of paper (decorative if you can find it) and secure it with a drop of candle wax. I did this a few years back and the lock of hair is still secure.

Take her to a haircut place for kids. They usually have planes or trains the kids can sit in while they get a haircut, and for first hair cuts they put the hair in a special baggy. It is fun and a big deal. You may want to also bring a camera.

No it isn't silly! If you don't want to cut it, then don't. If you do decide to cut it you could always go to a professional and see if there is a style that will keep the length but get it out of her eyes.
I hated cutting my kids' hair the first time too! If you want to do it just make an appointment to bring her in and take lots of pictures and make her a scrap book page. Be sure to save some of the hair and get a good picture of the baby with the person who cut her hair. Yes you will feel weird and then when you see it out of her eyes you will be happy, and so will baby!!! Good Luck!!
No you aren't being silly. With my youngest son, it took forever before I could cut his hair because he had these beautiful little curls and I couldn't bring myself to get rid of them!! I did finally get them cut at like though. But he is 2 now, and still only had his hair cut 3 times.

Some cultures shave thier baby's hair so it will grow back thicker, even little girls when they are only weeks old. My kids personally didn't have much hair at first, but when they did-once it started getting in thier eyes, I simply cut it! I cut my 2 year old daughters bangs all the time so she can see, and have for a long time. It's no big deal. Your being silly! just be careful, babies move a lot. Maybe when she's asleep, just lightly snip across her bangs, or have someone help you and hold her or you hold her and they do a 'trim'. It's no big deal at all! If you just want to grow them out, then just keep using clips. :-)

My daughter didn't receive her first haircut until she was 6 years old! I don't care for bangs so I just let her hair be. I either pulled it back into a ponytail, used clips, or a headband. So NO you aren't being silly!
I did not cut my daughters hair because I did not want her to have bangs. I pull her hair back everyday. She is 25 months and getting first haircut next week. They will not be touching the bangs.

cutting it is fine. Those hair clips are dangerous for young children who put things in their mouth the can esily choke.(i have personally stopped many a baby from doing just that.)

whenever you get split ends and damage your hair at the bottom, your hair wont grow as well when its damaged, so snipping it makes your hair healthier and healthier hair grows faster =)
B/c if you trim it then your getting rid of all the damaged split ends and it's not spliting your hair. So then it ends up being healthy and grow more natural way.

Basically if you have a buzz cut and your hair grows an inch, it's noticeable. If you have hair down to your waist, an inch or two goes unnoticed.
I find it appears to grow faster becuse your hair might be snapping off at the end if you use GHD's or other heat syling tools with out getting regular cuts. So if you get it cut regularly the hair wont split/snap off at the end and therefore will grow better.
Regular trims keeps your hair from breaking off. The stylist just needs to nip the ends every 2 months if you want to grow your hair longer. But cutting it does not make your hair grow faster.
Its a lie, hair grows from the root therefore if you cut it it will not grow faster. What getting it trimmed reg. will do is prevent you from having to get a lot cut off when you go in, and it will look healthier. If you don't trim reguarly you will get splits which just keep splitting faster after you get them. If you don't trim them when you finally do go in you will need more cut off than if you had just kept it trimmed reguarly.

my sister just started an apprentiship in hairdressing.
She Gets her scissors from a Salon Supplies Shop and they cost her upwards of $500. you can get cheaper ones but that price is for high quality.
If you just want them for casual cutting, Just go into a salon, Or salon Supplies depot. and they should supply them for around $150

I am a teen. I could not find a job NO WHERE I been looking for about 2 years now. but i have been cutting hair for a long time. (only my bro,dad hair) I am very good. BUT HOW MUCH money can i make cutting hair.
Yeah people do it all the time, but to make the big bucks you would probably have to work in a salon %26amp; to do that you have to have a license/certificates...But you can definitely make good money. Think about it if you charged $20 a pop if you cut 5 people's hair that would be $100! A hundred dollars a day isnt bad :).....But if you can't get your license then I would just work out of your home %26amp; cut your family %26amp; friends hair...Anyways I hope this helps! Everyone's hair varies with the AVERAGE rate being 1/2 Inch per month. There is nothing approved by the FDA to speed up hair growth.
What your mother is referring to is............"IF" your hair is trashed....really trashed and is all split ends ( where one hair splits at the end and becomes 2). then those hairs of course will not grow as they will just keep splitting.

Only if you have damaged ends, but you should cute every 2 months or so. your hair grows an half inch to a full inch every month so cutting often will only make it the same length or shorter. but if u want longer hair try massage the scapl with your fingers 2 times a day for 2-3 minutes. and remember clean hair is healthy hair
i don't think it does, i get my hair trimmed once a month to rid myself of those annoying split ends and my hair is still the same length it was in 1994
THIS IS NOT TRUE AT ALL. Here's the thing with trimming hair...the longer you wait to trim hair, the more that needs to be trimmed. Split and broken ends can travel up the hair a good couple of inches. If you get your hair trimmed 1 inch every two weeks and you skip two weeks...that's 2 inches you will have to take off next time, in turn, making your hair look shorter at the time of that trim. See what I mean? It doesn't make your hair grow faster, it just keeps from having to get so much taken off because of damage accumulation. That's all it is.

Cutting your hair will not make it grow faster, It does however maintain it to be healthy. Hair grows on the average of 1/16 of an inch per month. If your hair is not trimmed on a regular basis then it will split and become damaged.

I think the whole idea behind trimming your hair is that if you trim it, you are cutting off the ends that will potentially break off anyway. If your hair is dry, the ends will break off as fast or faster than you hair will grow in making it look like you hair takes a long time to grow, but it you give it a small trim, your making your hair healtier by getting the damaged, breakable hair off and therefore the hair appears to grow in faster.
