I had the same prob, and the hairdresser styled it for me so that the thickness is less, she also straightened it with an ion iron and that makes it less thick . Don't get layers....it will stick out in every way and be less managable...keep it one length.

Layers. Try under layers if you don't like the look of top layers. Count your blessing that you have thick hair though! I have REALLY thick hair as well and I've learned to love it. Just go to your favorite salon and ask them for other suggestions and play around with what works best for you.

You do have to live with it to a point...I have thick coarse hair..and I chemically straighten it and that does take some of the bulk out. I use Rusk straightener

No definetly there is a great way, as in my family all the girls have done it, its called 'thinning' that is the process where the hair dresser cuts the hair roughly in some sections to make the hair appear thinner, you get rid of some of the excess thickness and it looks better - I also recommend the use a razor blade to do this as it gives a better effect - ask your hairdresser about thinning.

Yeah there is... I have thick hair too and what I did was got it layered and thinned. She just thinned it out without me even asking,I just wanted it layered and I guess when they do that they thin it out... Layers make it so your hair doesn't look "thick" but instead full. layers also give you volume... my hair is layered and at the shoulder and I love it!!! Hope that helped!!!

You can have your hair thinned but in the long run it will still be just as thick at the base. Your hair will still be full at the scalp. Only the longer hair would look thinner.

There is nothing that you can really do about it. But one thing that makes a really big difference is gettting it layered with a lot of layers. It makes your hair feel alot lighter. You dont even have to get that much layers for it to make a big difference. So yah I hope I helped.

Go to a good hair salon. Don't go to a cheap one, like First Choice or something. Not to say that all First Choice people are bad, but some are so you have to be careful. Go to a respected salon and tell and just tell them you want your hair less thick and let them deal with the rest. Don't be a control freak and make them cut it a specific way, because while it may look good on the model in the magazine, it may not suit you. A good stylist will know what will look the best on you. It's worth the extra money if it makes you feel more confident.
