Well, i wont be cutting it myself, im getting it done wednesday. I want to get short layers back and have my side fringe alot shorter. I wanna dye it after i get it cut (i have once before) I was thinking of getting 2 different browns and doing different strands of it underneath, the only problem is underneath was black and has faded to a dark brown. Will putting lighter on top work?
Any other ideas?

Not unless they use a color stripper or bleach it prior to...be careful here-doing too much will leave your hair in awful condition and with a brassy tinge.
If you have only colored it once before you shouldn't have a problem, but before doing anything you need to discuss it with your colorists to see what the outcomes could be.

no never bleach out back it only turns orange they will have to use a color remover. and then color the color you want. i usually have people grow it out, but if you wear your hair up a lot then that's not a good idea. also highlights should only be on the top of your head, that is how it naturally happens if you look at someone that has never colored their hair the ends will be very light up to two shades lighter and the underneath will be darker.

when you go for your haircut ask their advice, ask what colours would work best, then go to the supermarket. i do it all the time, its either 鎷?0 in salon or 鎷?0 at home

Don't worry about how to achieve the look you want...that's your stylists job...just communicate clearly what you want and trust the professional!!
