My son needs his first hair cut! I've trimmed his bangs a tiny bit with the few strands that have gotten long enough to get into his eyes and he HATES that! I know he'll really hate having a stranger come near his hair to cut it. How are they able to give a toddler a nice hair cut if there is a chance of a struggle? I don't want my son having a mullet for Easter!
How would a hair cutter go about cutting a 19 month olds hair?
You're lucky, my son's hair grows so fast, he's needed haircuts every other week since he was 9 months old :) My son is also 19 months old, and I've seen that what helps TREMENDOUSLY is watching Daddy get his hair cut first. Since most boys want to do what their parents do, it seems that thinking "Well, Daddy did it so I can too" helps keep him calm. If possible, request that they only use scissors - no electric cutters! Especially if this is his first cut; the sound will likely scare the wits out of him.

Hold him on your lap and let the barber work his magic...I just did this with my 17mo.son..He screamed and squirmed but,his hair is cute(and cut) and we both survived...Good luck

I give my son a lollipop and he sits fairly still. All of his focus is on the sucker! He is 20 months. You have to make sure you go to someone who has cut a babies hair before because they have to move quickly, no lallygagging around!

It just depends on the child, but sometimes they will have him sit by himself, and you would be amazed..Most kids just sit still..They will tell Mama to go sit down out of sight..If he sees mama, he might throw a fit...Sometimes, them sitting on your lap does just fine too...Good luck..They know how to do it..He will be just a handsome little man!
