Im thinking about cutting my hair, but I have long curly hair and everyone tells me it will get puffy

Yeah, it'll get a little puffy unless you have the stylist texturize and possibly thin your hair out a little bit. Layers will help the puffiness a great deal.

It depends what you want, but if you go to a good hairdresser they can advise you depending on how long you spend on your hair etc and where to put the layers to stop it going puffy.

That would depend on how relaxed your curls are. If you have very tight curls, then yeah they most likely will puff because right now the weight is keeping your hair down. But why would you want to cut off your beautifull long curls? It's hard to grow back. You should get it shaped with some nice layers, that will revamp your hair if you're looking for a change.

not if you use correct products in it. Just put a little hair gel evenly throughout the hair. Your hair should look wnderful.

It depends on how short you cut it? My hair is really curly and I cut it to right below my shoulders, but had them cut in short layers, so my curls are big and thick.

Deffinitely ask your stylist if short layers would work for you.

They deal with all kinds of hair, and all hairdressers have a good idea of what will look good on a client.

It maybe will but try using a shampoo and conditioner that helps for frizzy/poofy hair, I suggest use Herbal essences None of your frizzness, Garnier Fructis Curl and Shine or Sunsilk anti poof

yes, it will.

but it depends on how thick and how short you will cut it....

curly hair is beautiful but needs extra care...you need a lot of moisturizer... or leave on conditioner so your hair wouldn't get too puffy...

Like everyone else said, it depends.

The best advice I have though is get it cut when its DRY and how you like to be curled (with whatever products in it you normally use). If you get it cut wet like they normally do with straight hair, there's no telling what will happen when it dries and curls up.

Trust me, I've been a victim of the poof.

I had a best friend who had VERY CURLY HAIR and when she cut it YES it seemed very puffy cause the curls pull up without the length to weigh them down. I don't know how much time you want to spend on your hair but from watching her daily groom session she she would apply lots of moose to her wet hair and brush and blow it as straight as possible, it looked good after, it was never "straight" but it was nice. If you go to the salon ask them about layering, it might be an option to decrease the puff.
