Cutting hair vs split ends?

Cutting your hair does not make it grow any faster than it will anyway. Your hair follicles have their own rate of growth and it has nothing to do with the ends of your hair. Hair generally grows 1 to 2 inches in a 60 day period. Split ends are hair damage. The wise thing to do is cut them but they have no bearing on the growth. Use hair tonics and creams with botanical oils like jojoba and coconut for hair growth. Massage the scalp on occasion. You can also stimulate your scalp with electrolosis or Tesla.

the answer to your question is simple. the reason hair seems to grow faster after it has been cut is because if the split ends do not get cut off the hair will continue to break at that same location therfore appearing to not grow . hair ends need to be clean finished . cut with sharp shears or the split ends will just get worse.. yes hair grows from the root . but the ends need to be tended to as well.

Cutting those dead ends off keeps the hairs from splitting like a zipper and falling out as a result. By trimming the ends you are keeping the entire strands and the new growth will be added to the older hair. So in you are actually keeping all your hair the healthy split-end free length and the new grow. Frequent trims equals healthier hair. Also invest in a super rich salon quality conditioner that will keep your hair from drying out which also causes split-ends. Many products contain sun-protection as well..the sun is also a split-end maker. Treat yourself to a salon visit as often as you can afford. The professionals are trained to diagnose hair issues and can also recommend at home products especially designed for your hair type, such as maybe leave-in conditions, etc...

Cutting hair vs split ends?

You are absolutely correct. Cutting off the split ends to make hair grow faster is an urban legend, not based on any type of research or fact. In fact, biology tells us that hair folicles produce new growth at the root, not the end. If length is what you want to maximize, then don't trim even a little bit. Use a gentle shampoo and conditioner to avoid hair damage. Get lots of sleep and eat healthy food along with moderate exercise. Hair grows mostly at night, as does the rest of your body that is repairing and changing. Those cahnges and growth are best accomplished by giving your body the tools it needs with proper nutrition and avoidance of pollutants in your body such as alcohol and smoke (from any source). That extra sllep, good nourishing food, and avoidance of alcohol will help your hair look shinier and have less split ends as well. Its science.
